Keep Your Webcam to Yourself

Are you a member of this fairly popular club? The U.T.O.C. or Ugly Tape Over Webcam club? Former FBI director James Comey is a member, as is Mark Zuckerberg.

Fact of the matter is, you are probably not being spied on by any government through your webcam. More likely is the embarrassment of not knowing it is on or some creep getting access to it through malware. I once clicked on a link for a training and it took me to the wrong webcam. Instead of a training session, it was someone's home office and they were just going about their work, totally unaware that their webcam had been activated. It was bizarre and absolutely no hacking skills were involved on my end. Just a weird glitch of fate. So there are definitely good reasons to have your webcam covered when you are not using it.

I love the ugly tape solution because it is easy and practically free. The thing is, lately I've been videoconferencing more often and the tape can leave a residue over the camera which I have to clean constantly. No biggie, but lately it was starting to irk me.

Instead, I decided to try a privacy webcam cover. It sticks onto your screen and has a cover you can slide back and forth. It has the added benefit that it isn't as ugly as the blue painter's tape I was using before. Installation is EZPZ (shown below) and it is relatively cheap to buy.

If you have any other privacy webcam recommendations, I would love to hear from you!

EZPZ Privacy Solution

Do you ever wonder whether someone has hacked into your phone or computer camera and then think, that's ridiculous? Do you ever go back and forth about whether to put an ugly, inconvenient piece of tape on your otherwise beautiful screen? Off, on, off, on.

Why do we have to choose between peace of mind and convenience?

I stumbled across a relatively inexpensive and elegant solution that allows me to relax without creating an eyesore. It's a small sliding cover make out of plastic just a little larger than the camera that is slim and easily attached by adhesive.

If this works for you, let me know!

Family Fun Night

Call me silly, but there is something soothing about rumble of a whirling bingo cage. Calling out the next number, "B2!" is a big responsibility. Hunting down your number and the excitement of marking it down create a tiny bit of suspense over and over. And of course, the accountability of confirming that the winner's Bingo is indeed Bingo. In short, Bingo has something for just about everyone to enjoy.

This year we finally purchased our own home Bingo set and it did not disappoint. If you are looking for a fun, engaged, and easy game night for friends or family, I highly recommend it.

There are lots of home kits available which I imagine work great, and the professional ones are a big too large and expensive so I went with something in the middle. Hopefully, it will last for year.

Here are the items we bought for our inaugural Bingo Night. Everything you need. Happy Bingo'ing!
